Apprenticeships and Skilled Trades

Apprenticeships help you learn a skilled trade on the job. You work under the direction of experienced workers – and get paid while you do it. In Canada, many trades are regulated. You must have a certificate of qualification or be a registered apprentice to be employed in these jobs. For detailed information, please see the guide to working in the trades.

In Peterborough, the School of Trades and Technology provides hands-on training and the latest techniques in a wide variety of apprenticeships, skilled trades and technology programs.

If you need help deciding on a career, please refer to the Career Finder created by Employment Ontario. For further information on working in Canada and specifically in Peterborough, see the Working section of this website.
