Employment Services

The City of Peterborough has various agencies which serve immigrants and refugees. They can provide assistance with your settlement and in your search for employment.  Their services are free.

NCC signThe New Canadians Centre (NCC) is a local non-profit charitable organization dedicated to supporting immigrants, refugees and other newcomers to Peterborough.  It provides employment services that can help newcomers find meaningful jobs.  The NCC employment counsellor can help you with all aspects of your job search, including the credential-recognition process for internationally educated professionals.  Moreover, in collaboration with the Workforce Development Board the NCC offers a mentorship programme between newcomers and established Canadians in the workforce.

The Workplace Integration Centre (WIC) helps employers attract, hire, and retain foreign-trained professionals.  WIC connects immigrants to employers in Peterborough through mentorship programmes, information interviews, networking opportunities, volunteer opportunities and other initiatives and services.  Please note that the WIC does not provide assistance with résumés and cover letters. However, below you can find a list of organizations that provide free employment services to Peterborough residents.

Employment agencies will help you create résumés and cover letters, learn about the job-search process, and prepare for interviews. They also offer training programmes and services provided by Employment Ontario

The Community Employment Resource Partnership (CERP) provides contact information of organizations delivering employment counselling and support services.
