Who can help me with the immigration process?

You can hire an immigration consultant or a lawyer to help you with the immigration process.  This is not a requirement within the immigration process but it can be helpful.  You can find more information on hiring a certified immigration consultant or lawyer at Settlement.org. 

If you decide to hire an immigration consultant, make sure it is someone who is certified. Please refer to the Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants website to find licensed immigration consultants in the Peterborough area.

You can find a lawyer through the Lawyer Referral Service.

If you are already in Peterborough, the city has various agencies which serve newcomers, immigrants and refugees. They can provide assistance with your settlement, including give you information about your options and help you apply for immigration status.

You can also find help at the office of your Member of Parliament (MP). Your MP is the local representative of the federal government.
